  • Built for the Field – Rugged IP65 housing offers protection against dust, water, and harsh site conditions.

  • High-Performance Sensors – Precision, quick-response sensors deliver consistent and repeatable environmental readings.

  • Automatic Data Logging – User-programmable logging function captures climate parameters at set intervals without manual input.

  • Universal PosiTector Platform – Swap between probes easily, using one gage body for multiple inspection applications.

  • Connected Reporting – Transfer results instantly via USB, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth to PosiSoft software for PC, Mac, or mobile devices.

  • Traceable Certification – Supplied with a long-form Calibration Certificate showing full traceability to recognised metrology standards (NIST/UKAS).

  • Standards Compliance – Fully meets ISO 8502-4, BS 7079-B4, ASTM D3276, IMO PSPC, SSPC-PA7, US Navy NSI 009-32, and NAVSEA 009-32.

  • Prevent Costly Failures
Condensation forms when surface temperature nears the dew point. If coatings are applied in this condition, adhesion suffers and early corrosion may occur. The PosiTector DPM eliminates guesswork by showing real-time Ts, Td, and ΔT values, with alerts when conditions are unsafe.

  • Compliance with International Standards
Fully aligned with ISO 8502-4, ASTM D3276, SSPC-PA7, IMO PSPC, and US Navy NSI 009-32 requirements, the DPM ensures your inspection reports stand up to audit and client scrutiny.

  • Monitor Environmental Trends
Arrow indicators show whether humidity, temperature, and dew point values are stable, rising, or falling — giving inspectors the ability to forecast unsafe conditions before they occur.

  • Universal Applications
From ship maintenance and pipeline coating to bridge works, HVAC installations, and protective paint projects, accurate dew point measurement is critical in any environment where coatings must cure properly.

  • Official UK Distributor – Genuine instruments with full DeFelsko warranty.

FAQ’s

What does the PosiTector DPM measure?

The instrument simultaneously records air temperature, surface temperature, relative humidity, dew point, and delta T (the difference between surface temperature and dew point). With optional probes, it can also measure wind speed and surface temperature using infrared.

Why is dew point measurement important before painting?

When surface temperature approaches the dew point, condensation can form, leading to poor adhesion and premature coating failure. Industry standards such as ISO 8502-4 require dew point checks before coatings are applied to steel and other critical substrates.

How is delta T (ΔT) used in practice?

ΔT is the margin between surface temperature and dew point. Most standards require a minimum 3 °C (5 °F) safety margin before painting. The PosiTector DPM automatically calculates this and displays warnings when conditions fall below the limit.

What standards does the DPM comply with?

It conforms to ISO 8502-4, ASTM D3276, SSPC-PA7, IMO PSPC, US Navy NSI 009-32, and NAVSEA 009-32. Using a DPM ensures inspections meet global compliance requirements.

What’s the difference between Standard and Advanced models?

  • Standard models store 2,500 readings and connect via USB.

  • Advanced models log up to 100,000 readings in 1,000 batches, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, email alerts, and detailed graphing.

Can the DPM log automatically?

Yes. In Auto Log mode, it records measurements at set intervals. Advanced models can log for months at a time, conserving battery life by powering down between readings.

Is it durable enough for outdoor worksites?

Yes. The meter is IP65-rated (dustproof, water resistant) with an impact-resistant case, protective holster, and scratch-resistant lens. It’s designed for marine, construction, and industrial sites.

How accurate are the readings?

The DPM uses fast-response precision sensors and is supplied with a long-form calibration certificate traceable to NIST/UKAS, ensuring accuracy across environmental conditions.

How often does it need recalibration?

We recommend annual recalibration to stay compliant with quality systems. As a UK Authorised Service Centre, DFT provides a one-day turnaround on recalibration and certification.

Can data be shared with colleagues or clients?

Yes. Data can be exported via USB, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth into the free PosiSoft software (Desktop, App, or Cloud) to create customisable reports with graphs, notes, and logos.
